Former U.S. President Donald Trump has called for a formal investigation into Vice President Kamala Harris’ recent 60 Minutes interview, accusing CBS of heavily editing her segment. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, claimed that Harris’ responses were manipulated to make her appear more presidential and coherent.

In a post on his social media platform, TruthSocial, Trump alleged that Harris’ answers were edited multiple times, sometimes even within a single sentence. He suggested that these edits amounted to a major campaign violation and demanded a public apology from CBS. According to a report by HuffPost, Trump insisted that the investigation should begin immediately.

Social media users have pointed out discrepancies in the video clips of Harris’ interview shared by CBS. In one version, Harris gave a lengthy response to a question from journalist Bill Whitaker about the U.S.’s influence over Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. However, in another clip posted by the network, Harris responded much more briefly and directly. These differences have sparked speculation that the footage may have been edited for clarity or length.

Questions Surrounding the Footage

The exact reasons for the variations between the two versions of the interview are unclear, raising uncertainty about whether the edits were made to improve clarity or for time constraints. Trump’s accusations have added to the controversy, though CBS has not officially responded to the claims.

Interestingly, Trump himself chose not to participate in his own 60 Minutes interview, despite the program being a traditional platform for presidential candidates since 1968. HuffPost reported that Trump opted out, possibly to avoid the fact-checking process. He previously demanded an apology for the way his 2020 interview with the show was handled and canceled his appearance last week. Additionally, Trump has declined to debate Vice President Harris for a second time, even after both candidates were invited to participate in a CNN-hosted debate later this month.
